Sun City, an Active Adult Community of 27,800 homes and a population of 38,000 is located 35 minutes northwest of central Phoenix. Known as the City of Volunteers, Sun City is known for the wide range of activities offered to its residents.
Sun City has 7 recreation centers. Monitored activities include – billiard tables, bingo, boating/fishing, boccie courts, bowling lanes, fitness centers, horseshoe courts, inside jogging/walking track, libraries, mini golf, pickle ball, racket ball, shuffleboard, spas, swimming pools, table tennis and tennis courts. An annual recreation fee covers all of these activities. The newest recreation center was recently completed in 2012 at a cost of over $23 million dollars. Clubs include 35 arts and crafts clubs, 14 card and games clubs, 7 contract bridge clubs, 2 duplicate bridge clubs, 9 dance clubs, 4 educational clubs, 8 fitness clubs, 10 hobby clubs, 11 music and theater clubs, 2 political clubs and most state clubs, 8 social clubs and 21 sports clubs. There are also many civic, service, church, charitable, and cultural groups.
Sun City has 11 golf courses. Our weather permits playing 365 days per year. Green fees are very reasonable with various fee options.
Walter O. Boswell hospital is rated in the Top 100 hospitals in the nation. It has a new state of the art heart wing. There are many medical clinics, nursing and rehabilitation centers. Sun City has 3 fire stations and a 200 member volunteer posse supporting the Maricopa County Sheriff Department.
Other advantages to Sun City include very affordable housing and low taxes. One member of each household must be 55 years of age and no person under the age of 19 is permitted to stay longer than 60 days.
